The National Online Passport to Safety Test:
The National Online Passport to Safety Test:
Passport to Safety is a unique, not-for-profit, cross-Canada catalyst for change intended to help eliminate needless injuries and preventable deaths of young Canadians aged 24 and under. It supports the vision that our children enter and then return home from safe workplaces every day. Passport to Safety is based on a test that is linked to learning outcomes developed by health and safety curriculum experts from most provincial and territorial jurisdictions across Canada. Successful participants are awarded a "transcript" that can be attached to resumés, demonstrating their basic awareness of health and safety. WorkSafeNB is pleased to sponsor the Passport to Safety test for New Brunswick high school students. Provincial teachers can order accounts for their students by visiting: www.passporttosafety.com/NBTeachers or by contacting the WorkSafeNB youth programs coordinator at 1 800 222-9775 with any questions.
The New Brunswick Safety Council:
The NB Safety Council offers a number of bilingual safety courses across the province for a reasonable registration fee. Examples of courses offered include, but are not limited to: chain saw safety, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), defensive driving, motorcycle safety, traffic control signalers, and ATV training. For a full listing of available courses, their description and cost, please call toll free at 1 877 762-7233 or check out: Safety Service NB.
Health & Safety 101:
Health and Safety 101 is a free e-course developed by the WSIB of Ontario to provide an overview of the fundamentals of workplace health and safety in a fun and interactive manner. There is no preparation on the part of the teacher, as students simply log on to the site and the program guides them through the instruction. The information presented also helps prepare youth for the Passport to Safety online test (see above). Visit: www.hs101.ca.
